Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPDChronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was not separately included in the statistical reporting as an independent unit in Ukraine till 2009, and the data were referred to chronic bronchitis in the official statistics. As a result, the prevalence of chronic bronchitis accounted for one sixth of the prevalence of all respiratory system diseases in general. Definition of COPD in 2009 in a separate count of statistical reporting gave a tangible result. The diagnostics of COPD increased in 2010 (in 2009 – 377,267 and in 2010 – 420,083 cases, i.e. there were first diagnosed 42,816 patients). Read more
