Colorectal cancerColorectal cancer continues to possess its leading position in the structure of oncological morbidity of the adult population in Ukraine. 35.5% of patients with primarily diagnosed with cancer of the colon and rectum 29.3% of initially diagnosed cancer of the rectum does not have lived one year from the date of detection of the disease. The coverage by special treatment is 69.2% for cancer of the colon and rectum 73.2% for cancer of the rectum. Please pay attention to the annual reduction of the number of patients in whom the initial detection of malignant neoplasms of colon, rectum and anus took place on preventive examination – as of 2014, this rate is 10.5% for cancer of the colon and 21.4% for cancer of the rectum. The statistics of colon cancer, 2014 of the National Cancer Registry of Ukraine are the following: the Prevalence rate – 127.1 patients per 100 thousand population (males – 119.5; females – 133.7). The Incidence rate (age-standardized, world standard) – 22.3 cases per 100 thousand population (males – 28.6; females – 18.8). The Mortality rate (age-standardized, world standard) – 6.8 deaths per 100 thousand population (males – 9.0; females – 5.6).

The statistics of rectal cancer, 2014 of the National Cancer Registry of Ukraine are the following: the Prevalence rate – 112.2 patients per 100 thousand population (males – 114.5; females – 110.2). The Incidence rate (age-standardized, world standard) – 11,5 cases per 100 thousand population (males – 15.8; females – 8.9). The Mortality rate (age-standardized, world standard) – 6.5 deaths per 100 thousand population (males – 9.7; females – 4.6).

According to the report at the World Health Organization, colorectal cancer killed 12.7 thousand people and took the 6th place among the Top 10 causes of death in Ukraine – 1,8%.
