HIV infectionAccording to the World Health Organization, HIV infection/AIDS was on the 3rd place among the Top causes of death in Ukraine (2012): 20.8 thousand deaths or 3%.

By September 2014, the Prevalence rate of HIV infection was 319.7 per 100 thousand population; the total number of patients under medical supervision – 144,655. The disease reached the final stage of AIDS in 32,865 HIV-positive people. The Prevalence rate of AIDS was 72.6 per 100 thousand population. Read more

For 2015, 43 cases of HIV infection, 23 cases of AIDS and 8 deaths from AIDS were registered daily in the country.

By November 2016, 132,714 HIV-infected citizens of Ukraine were under medical supervision. 71 thousand patients received antiretroviral therapy. Read more

  • Globally, there are 477 recruiting clinical trials for HIV infection, including 72 Phase I and 44 Phase IV trials at ClinicalTrials.gov.
  • World leaders: the USA – 255, South Africa – 39, France – 29 recruiting trials.
  • CEE leaders: the Russian Federation – 6, Austria/Poland – 3 recruiting trials.
  • Ukraine: 1 recruiting behavioral clinical trial is conducted on 10 clinical sites in 5 cities: Dnipro – 2, Kryvyi Rih – 1, Kyiv – 1, Mykolaiv – 3, Odesa – 3 clinical sites.
