Overactive bladder

Overactive bladderThe data of overactive bladder (OAB) prevalence presented in the international population-based surveys are following:

 

 

  • 2001, The Milsom study (the surveys in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the UK) showed an overall prevalence of OAB symptoms of 16.6%: men – 15.6%, women – 17.4%.
  • 2003, NOBLE study (the survey in the USA) showed an overall OAB prevalence of ~16%: men – 16%, women – 16.9%).
  • 2006, EPIC study (the surveys in Canada, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the UK) showed an overall OAB prevalence of 11.8%, with similar rates in men and women.
  • 2009, EpiLUTS study (the surveys in the USA, the UK, Sweden) showed an overall OAB prevalence of symptom “sometimes”: men – 27.2%, women – 43.1%; symptom “often”: men – 15.8%, women – 32.6%. Read more

  • Globally, there are 44 recruiting clinical trials for overactive bladder registered at ClinicalTrials.gov, including: Phase I trials – 4 (the USA – 3, Canada & Belgium – 1), Phase IV trials – 13.
  • World leaders: the USA – 21, Canada/France – 4, Belgium/Republic of Korea/the Netherlands/ Taiwan/the United Kingdom – 3 recruiting trials.
  • CEE leaders: the Czech Republic/Lithuania/Poland/Romania – 1 recruiting trial.

  • World leaders: Canada – 3, the United Kingdom – 2 recruiting trials.
  • Ukraine: no recruiting trials. The country experience includes 2 completed Phase III clinical trials on the 4 clinical sites in 3 cities: Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kyiv.
